Strong Underlying Tendency

On The Share Market

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT)

London, Aug. 10. The Stock Exchange has staged a substantial recovery since the end of June when prices of both industrial ordinary shares and Government securities touched their lowest levels of the year.

Six weeks ago, when investors were expressing grave doubts about the prospects for bringing the country's external accounts into balance, the "Financial Times" industrial share index fell to 103.1 and the Govern- ment securities index to 90.82.

By last week-end, however, the indices had recovered to 113.1 and 92.19, respectively.
