Have you ever seen a racing auto equipped with headlighta? Probably not, as the longest auto race in America, Indianapolis' annual 500 mile classic, is an afternoon affair, and the racers have no need of headlights in the daytime.

The tremendous Hoosier spectacle is an arduous and often deadly race, pro- viding a severe trial of the endurance of men and machines, but it is strictly a picnic in comparison with another automobile race held in June in the city of Le Mans, France.
