OLYMPIC VILLAGE DECLARED OPEN
DRAW FOR THE HEATS OF THE EARLIER TRACK EVENTS AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES

Helsinki, July 14.
The draw for the Olympic track and field events took place today in the Palace of Estatos here under the supervision of Lord Burghley, member of the International Olympic Committee's Executive Committee.
Before making the draw the former Olympic Gold Medallist, who is Presl- dent of the International Amuleur Athletic Federation, said that the Federation had gone carefully through the best times of the entries and had also guarded against competitors of one nation clashing in the same heat,
There will be 12 heats in the 100 Metres for men and women.. In each caso the first two qualify for the second round. There will then be 24 survivors, yielding four heats of six. A new seeding and draw will be made after every round.
