because they're covered. But I find that Sharon's dry skin often gets irritated from fabrics such as winter leggings. Baby lotion use, after bath and before out- door sessions, climinates that."

Both Virginia and her husband are with ice-skating outdoor enthusiasts their winter diversion, long walks, a spring and autumn pleasure. And they're planning to put the baby on skates just as soon as she can stand prettily upright.

"I want her to develop poise and good posture, and skating certainly helps to do that," Virginia says. Virginia should know, too, for she was Skate Queen of the local roller rinks in 1944, but switched to ice-skating after her marriage because her husband preferred it.

Sharon, who's twenty-three months old now, falls eagerly into the daily out-of- doors walks which, to her mother mean fitness-and to her mean fun.

"I don't let weather keep us house- bound-ever," says Virginia. It's impor- . tant, she feels, to keep skin, lubricated against extremes of temperature, wind and rain. For Sharon that means a protect- ing film of baby lotion put on just as often as she puts on her pretty-as-a-picture walking bonnet.

Asked if she wanted Sharon to be a model, Virginia laughed, then said simply, "I want her to be a model daughter first. After that, I won't worry about her."

Most mothers, we think, will agree with Virginia.
