Jack Ikin, Lancashire and England all-rounder may have carned himself a place in England's team for tite next Test against India by completing a century today against Warwickshire, last season's champions.
England's only weakness in the first Test appeared to be the lack of another brilliant close flelder to work · with Glamorgan's Alan Watkins, Ikin is on a par with Watkins in that department of the game and his second successive 100 proves that he has completely recovered his batting form. HAWAIIAN-BORN FORD KONNO IS AMERICA'S BIGGEST HOPE
AGAINST FURUHASHI
Ford, Konno is one of America's big hopes in the Olympic Games at Helsinki this summer. The Ohio State University student, now 19, not only holds national titles in the 200 Metres, 400, Metres and 1,500 Metres Free Style events, but has also bettered unofficially the world record for the -1,500 Metres Free Style race set by Hironashin Furuhashi, the Japanese swimmer.
Furuhashi, who specialises in the 1,500-Metro event, is considered by many authorities the world's greatest free-style swimmer.
