Reforms In Armed Forces

ARMY RESERVE SCHEME LIKELY

Istanbul, June 8.

Turkey is contemplating big reforms in the organisation of her armed forces. The most im portant of them is a scheme for training reserves.

The exact extent of the reforms, however, is dependent largely upon how much assistance is forthcoming from the North Atlantic Treaty. Organisation (NATO), of which Greece and Tur- key are the most recent members, according to a well-informed Turkish Army officer who desires to be anonymous.

Turkey, this officer emphasised in an interview with Router, is already spending about half her na tional budget directly or indirectly on her armed forcos.
