Communist Spy Net Sensation

Paris, June 8.

Information revealing France's Southern naval base port of Toulon as the centre of a Communist spy net, organised to steal defence secrets. was examined by government lawyers today following widespread police raids on Red cells.

New seizures went on through the weekend to build the govern- ment's treason case against the Communist Party, although the police withheld details beyond admitting they were generally in the Toulon area. The Ministry of the Interior said it was "premature" to disclose the contents of documents taken in yesterday's raids, but numerous local reports said the papers included plans of the Toulon naval arsenal, blueprints of elec trical installations marked for destruction, and a photostat of the top secret naval dossier whose original rests in the French Admiralty safe.

New York, June 8. The Governor of Pennsylvania, Mr John Fine, who is chairman of his State's powerful 70-vote Republican convention delegation, today discussed "practical politics" with General Dwight Eisen- hower for three hours, but declined to say whether the general had his support.

Mr Fine, who is said to control at least 25 delegates whose presidential preferences are un- known, said he had a pleasant chat with Eisen- hower at the General's home at Columbia University.
