Washington, June 2.

Britain will take “instant logal action” against any firm whatevor nationality, including American, If an attempt is made to buy Iranian oil.

following reports from Teheran saying that Iran

has signed a Ave-year contract with an American

firm, by which 3,000,000 tons of oil a year will be

sold.

British official spokesman said at once that Britain made her position quite clear on this matter last year.

Advertisements were publish ed all over the world, including the United States, saying that Britain regarded the all as tho property of the Anglo-Iranian Oll Company, and that, pending decisions to be reached by the International Court at The Hague, anyone accepting de- livery of it from Iran would be proceeded against.

The amount mentioned in the Teheran reports equals roughly 10 per cont of Iran's annual oil re-production and it was stated that a large proportion of the oil involved would consist of high-test aviation petrol.
