STUDENT officers at the Military College of Science at Shrivenham are releasing meteorological balloons, six feet in diameter and fitted with radar targets to enable them to plot their course. The balloons carry: parachutes which bring the meteorological instru- ments to earth with the data required when the balloons deflate.
