Legality Of President Truman's Action To Be Argued Before Court
+
Washington, May 12.
The United States Supreme Court, the nation's highest tribunal, will meet here today (Monday) to hear arguments on whether President Tru- man acted unconstitutionally in seizing the steel industry on April 9 to avert a strike over wages.
With production almost back to normal in the key industry, Presi- dent Truman's action is being put to the ultimate test amid perhaps the sharpest constitutional controversy since the early years of the late Pre- sident Roosevelt's Administration.
The Court has the power to invalidate any act of Congress or the Pre- sident which, it decides, violates the nation's written Constitution.

The present dispute is on the cxtent of the President's in- herent powers under the Con- alitution. The Government sought a Supreme Court deci- sion after Federal Judge David Pine,
