Japanese Refer New Peace Proposals To Tokyo
Taipei, Apr. 3.
Japanese peace delegates today referred to Tokyo provisions of the newly revised Chinese draft treaty on which the Foreign Office here pinned hopes for a successful end to the negotia- tions which are now in the seventh week.
The Chinese hopes were based chiefly on a new ap- proach to the provision asking recognition of Nationalist China as an equal to any of the Allied powers which was rejected by Japan in the earlier form.

Storage Rates Likely, Says Keswick
REPORTS TO ANNUAL MEETING OF

The Board of Directors of the Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company have under active consideration the imposition of a surcharge on storage rates, Mr John Keswick, CMG, disclosed at the an- nual general meeting of the company over which he presided this morn- ing.
Mr Keswick said that operating costs were approximately six times greater than in 1941. He added that for the time being there will be no intention to increase cargo handling charges, although if general costs in the Colony continue to mount, consideration may have to be given to this? point as well.
