HONGKONG'S OWN TARZAN FOOTBALL
It has been the fashion for many years now with Alm companies, except for two interludes when swim- mera Larry Crabble and Johnny Weissmuller appeared in the role, to use athletic weight men for the role of Tarzan, the jungle hero.
Among the many Tarzans that the screen has seen were Herman Brix, one-time world record holder in the shot put, and Kaj-Taplo Rautavaara, who is the Tarzan of Finnish films and the reigning Olympic Champion in the Javelin Throw.
The main candidate for the role of Tarzan in Hongkong-produced films is Chan Wal-chin, of the South China Athletic Association, who, after quite some time as an also-ran, has emerged as the Colony's leading thrower in the shot put, discus and Javelin events.
As marks go, he is not very good as yet in the shot or discus, but his best javelin throw of 164 feet ranks with the best ever achieved in Hongkong. At Boufidary Street on Sunday, Chan Wai-chin won the shot and javelin and came second in the discus, - Chián Mall Photo.
