Souvenir Caused A Rumpus

Hull polico have become the owners of a 2lb. souvenir shell which, after being used as a door stopper and a. paper weight of a house for 10 years, suddenly showed a spark of life.

When a Hull woman, knocked

the souvenir. from the mantel-

piece in her son's bedroom, there was a small report, a flash and a wisp of smoke. >

Terrified she fled downstairs, expecting the explosion at any moment. She waited two hours and then called a neighbour to fetch the police to dispose of an unexploded bomb.

The policemen asked the women to show them where the bomb was, but she refused to go anywhere near the bedroom.

The officers went alone. They

found the shell on the bedroom

floor.

After studying the shell a police sergeant plcked it up and underneath was the explanation - spent match head.

A husband and his wife, were descending the Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen, when their car mounted the kerb, dropped into a field below, thon plunged 300ft Into the valley beneath.

The Deputy Chief Constable of Denbighshire announced that ten result of the incident..25- year-old Terence William Har- rison will appear in court st Llangollen accused of the at- tempted murdar of his wife, Christine, aged 20, a native of Gisborne, New Zealand.
