India supported Yugoslavia in the Security | Council today in an attempt to reconcile Soviet and United States views on the admission of new members to the United Nations.

Italy's admission to the United Nations was under discussion but the Soviet delegate, Mr Jacob Malik, at once asked the Council to give urgent priority to general principles of admittance of new members as raised in the 1950 resolution by the General Assembly.
