had already con- tributed a substantial amount for economic and technical aid to the less developed countries, the Australian delegate, Mr Ralph Harry, told the Economic Committee today.

But now the economic strain limited Australia's capacity for giving what she had originally

hoped.

Lord Wakehurst, the British delegate, said yesterday that Britain

was now too poor to contribute to any new fund for economic ald to under-developed territories.

The Australian delegate said today that Australia had been making contributions to the fullest extent of Its resources, not only through the United Nations and. its specialised agencies, but through the Colombo Plan for development in South and South-East Asia.
