BROTHER AND SISTER MAKE CHAMPION PAIR

A brother-sister relationship which runs smoothly is that of 22-year-old John Nicks and 19-year-old Jennifer Nicks, reigning British amateur pair-skating cham- pions, seen practising at Streatham (London) Tee Rink for the European Skating Championships and next year's Olympic vames.

John and Jennifer have held the British pair-skating tile since 1917. Reaterphoto.

THE ARMY ENCOURAGES

YOUNG FOOTBALLERS

Says PETER

DITTON

London.

Army football is not what it used to be. The war-time giants, Mercer, Cullis, Britton and Hagan have gone and have not been replaced. In their stead the Army have young National Servicemen mostly between the ages of 18 and 20.

Their presentative side cetrporises players, all et whom are connected with What they lack in the professional clubs. Then experience is naturally limited.

But that is not finer arts they attrinpl to compensate for by honest endeavour. enough to win games when they come up against players with considerable Foot- ball League experience.
