Sydney, Nov. 8.

A domestic wrangle, largely political, may cost Mel- bourne the 1956 Olympic Games. It is 21⁄2 years since Melbourne was given the 1956 Games.

H.K. Badminton League Entries

Following are the club entries for the league:

Between them Nat Lofthouse of Bolton was more forceful if less speedy than Jackie Milburn, his Newcastle rival for the position, while it is good to record that Tom Finney, of Preston, cut out the frills and got on with the job, at the same time retained all his craft in hall control and scoring his usual representative match goal. vaunted These four, and the accurate-centreing Medley of Spurs made the Glasgow Rangers' defence of Brown, Young, Cox and Woodburn, aided by the Celtic wing-halves, Evans and Baillie, looks a poor lot. Finney probably played Cox out of the Scottish side. Gilbert Merrick, Birmingham's moustachioed ex-Army goalkeeper, turned on a wonder display including the saving of a Waddell penalty.
