SPRINGBOKS' OPENING MATCH
SAINTS HAND THE BRAVES THEIR FIRST DEFEAT IN ALMOST TWO YEARS
By "GRANDSTAND"
Saints handed the Braves their first defeat in almost two years of Senior League Softball playing with a 5—2 triumph when they unleashed their pent up fury in the sixth inning with a scoring splurge which broke up a 2-all ballgame, while the hustling Overseas outfit played almost errorless ball to shutout South China 4-0 in the "A" Division.
Baseballers yanked their game out of the fire in the eighth chapter when Walker homered in the extra inning to beat the Dodgers 8-7 while the Warriors succumbed to the Americans 9-4 after three hurlers made futile attempts to stem the tide of rons.
Saturday's games were called off on account of rain but the Junior League Griffine surprised fans with a 76 noseout over the Aces yesterday while 36 Ban- tams, who were leading at one stage of the game, fell behind after a 9-run uprising by the Blue Sox, and dropped another decision to the tune of 16-7.

Washington, Oct. 20.
House investigators were toldi today that players should have a voice in choosing baseball's Commissioner and that baseball is no longer an attractive occupation to young men.
