ROYAL VISIT TO U.S.

Handshakes Will Replace Curtsies At Reception

Washington, Oct. 14.

American-type handshakes rather than the curtsies traditional with English Royalty will be in style at the big reception the British Embassy is planning for Princess Elizabeth and her hus- band, the Duke of Edinburgh.

There just won't be enough room to curtsy, so many people are coming to the Embassy for the reception on October 31. Also a kneebend takes longer than a handshake--and there will be two thousand hands, about half of them feminine, to be shaken between 30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. that afternoon.
