Singapore Services v. HKCC BRIGHT AND ENTERPRISING CRICKET BRINGS 386 RUNS IN 294 MINUTES
A day of bright and enterprizing cricket at Chater Road yesterday saw the Hongkong Cricket Club leading by 44 runs with two wickets still intact at the end of the first day's play of their two-day match against the Singapore Combined Services.
No less than 386 runs were scored in the 294 minutes of play, the Services" share being 171 runs and the Cricket Club's contribution 215 funs for eight wickets. The visitors fielded a team without at least four of their regular players, who are presumably resting for the big match against the Colony starting on Friday.

London's Rugby Union Clubs Are Slow To Strike Form
By PETER DITTON
Though the steady Influx of class players to the metropolis during the summer months should ensure a far better season for some of the leading London rugby union clubs than at any time since the war, results, and specially formt, during September were most discouraging for the optimists who have been heralding that lung-awaited revival.
Harlequins, who are even more strongly represented than last year, when two of their members gained International caps, five played in Trials and 21 in idle County Championship, could only claim a single victory over a modest Hospital side. and two drawi matches.
