BRAVES WILL PLAY JAGUARS IN THE OPENING MATCH OF THE SOFTBALL SEASON

The General Council of the Hongkong Sòftball Association, who met during the week, announced that the title-holding Braves will meet the Jaguars in an exhibition tussle to highlight the Official Opening of the season on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 4 p.m.

It was also the unanimous decision that Dr F. J. Malthen, Hongkong's first - Softball Commissioner and President of the Association will be given the honour of

pitching the first ball to inaugurate the season in the traditional manner.

Fred Perry Plans A Comeback

Fred Perry, 12 though he is, may be returning to competitive lawn tennis in

a big way. He tells me that Sir Arthur Elvin, of Wembley Stadium; wants him to play there in the International professional tournament from September 24 to 29. He may answer "Yes"-and so throw himself into competition with Gonzales, fegura, Riggs, Kovacs and other world-clogs men years his junior.

"I feel," said Perry, "that now the Lawn Tennis Association, controlling body of amateur tennis, has seen fit to recognias and help run this tournament it is up to professionals to support it.
