Plastics-Our Youngest Industry

"If the quality of your goods is first class, and your selling price more reasonable than anyone else's then you cannot fail to win a share in the world's markets." This truism was volced by a representative of Hongkong's youngest industry when referring to the future of plastics.

High on a hill and overlooking a view as fine as any in the Colony, yet only a few hundred yards away from the city's centre, stands the first and largest plastic factory to go up in Hongkong. At present covering 50,000 square feet of ground, Kader Industrial Company are waiting for the political gusts of the moment to settle into a fair trade wind before going ahead with a further extensive building programme.

BUFFER ZONE PROPOSAL

Uncompromising

Washington, Aug. 1.'-

Secretary of State Dean Acheson today declared uncompromising opposition to the Com- munist proposal for setting up a Korean buffer zone on the 88th Parallel.

He said the line along which the armies stand during any armistice must be a defensible line and experience has shown that the 38th Parallel does not meet that requirement.
