Taft Suggests Joint Anglo-U.S. Control Of "World Sea And Air"
Plymouth, Mass., July 29.
Senator Robert Taft (Republican, Ohio) said today that to oppose Russia successfully the United States must obtain control of the sen and air throughout the world with the help of the British Empire.
Speaking to about 3,000 persons Senator Toft said the nation must in- crease its armed forces tremendously. He added that complote control of the air should be the most important element in building up defence against Rys- sia because the United States could not fight the Russians on the ground throughout the entire world.
"I believe control of the sea and air throughout the world is within our capacity and that we should therefore undertake to secure that control with the co-operation of the British Empire," he declared.
