INTER-CLUB MEET FOR YOUNG SWIMMERS
THE CHINA MAIL, THURSDAY, JULY 26, · 1951.
SHOWS ENCOURAGING RESULTS
In an eight-event dual meet, featuring Hongkong's aquatic stars of Fortuna by 40 tomorrow, Victoria Recreation Club had the better of points to 25.
Thrown into the programme were two men's invitation events, the 220 yards the Colony free style and the 150 yards backstroke, both of which were won by Champlon, Cheung King-man, and the 50 yards Indies' free style, which brought forth a welcome new winner in Miss Venetia Giles of VRC.
The performances of yesterday's up and coming young swimmers, particularly and spectators alike organisers from the VRC, wero above average and gave sufficient optimism for Hongkong's future in this branch of sport. The keen com- petition shown by the youngsters was suflicient evidence of the good that such meets can do.
