The other military occasion is a Ceremonialue to Romance (Collins) London Parade for His Excellency the Governor by 1st Battalion, The Middlesex Regiment, which takes place in the New Territories on Monday, 4th June. A recorded commentary, done on the spot, will be broadcast between 740 and 8 p.m. the same day.
Cricket enthusiasts will be interested to know relay commentaries that Radio Hongkong plans to from London on the Test Match between England and South Africa. A description of the first two 9.15 and 9.30 p.m. on days' play comes between Thursday and Friday, Music Lovers' Hour on Friday, 8th June, it should be noted, comes at 9.30 to 10.30 p.m. on that day only.
On Wednesday, 6th June, Radio Hongkong is broadcasting an outstanding performance of one of the world's great plays. This is the Alcestir of Euripides, freely adapted by Ford Madox Ford. This is a prose version of the Alcestis, colloquial in tone. The great interest of the play lies in the the romantic, development of King Admetus from high-flying egoist, who allows his wife to sacrifice herself, to the bitter self-accusing widower, utterly overwhelmed by the realisation of his loss and the contemptible part he has played in it.
(Broadcasting on a frequency of 845 kilocycles per second and on 9.52 megocycles per second in the 31 metre band).
