Judgment with costs for the plaintiff was delivered by Mr Justice E. H. Williams (Senior Puisne Judge) at the Supreme Court this morning in an action brought by a widow, Sham Man-sang, who sought the return of 139 taels of 99 percent pure gold in gots deposited in the Nam Mce Bank, 28 Bonham Strand East, by her younger brother on May 3, 1949.
As the gold claimed by the plaintiff was not now available and as she claimed in the alternative for the value of the gold, his Lordship awarded plaintiff as damages the value of the gold and costs. The damages amounted to $44,480 as the value agreed by Counsel per tael was $320.
The case was heard by Mr Justice Williams when he acted as Chief Justice. Heuring con- cluded on January 27 when Dect- judgment was reserved. slon had been delayed through the indisposition of Mr Justice Wilitams, who only recently recovered.
