RACING FOR BUNS TURNED OUT AN OLYMPIC CHAMPION A RECORD-BREAKER

AND

Says McDONALD BAILEY

What should be the aim of the athlete when he goes to the track

for a training session?

:

My answer is that to begin with he should be in a happy frame of mind, he should have a definite plan of action and keep to it as near as possible, and he should have some form of incentive.

In my experience of training with many athletes I have found that very few follow these principles. In fact, I often wonder at the complete aimlessness of the majority, who just seem to gather at the track for an evening's frolicking.

There should be Do excuse entirely for this or to provide shy and complacent attitude of for this if the athletes are keen the incentive in training,

That the Racecourse Betting Control Board turnover for 1950 is less than that of the previous year is not an indication that racing is any less popular; it is only that there is less spending money in circulation.

Says CORNELIUS RYAN

If a survey should be taken of all the sports pages in America, it probably would be found that more space

is devoted to bowling than any other sport.

The American Bowling Congress lists almost a quarter of a million teams as members, and each team has from five to eight bowlers. In addition, there many thousands of unaffiliated bowlers,
