Miss Ulian Khoo, holder of the Colony Ladies' Singles Badminton title since the event was instituted in 1949, met her strongest challenge last night from 19-year old Miss Ivy Choong of Craigengower, when the Championships continued at the St. Teresa Badminton Hall,
In a gruelling three-set match that produced the highest standard of play ever seen in the Ladies' singles championship, the reigning champion just managed to annex the third set, which was incidentally the first that she was ever extended to,
in the last two years.
The challenger gave one of the pluckiest displays in local badminton history, when in each of the three sets she came back fighting after trailing way behind.
