Good And Hard If Not Brilliant Rugger In The Interport Match

By "Hanlincode”

At Sookunpoo on Monday, a Singapore Services XV beat a Hongkong Services XV by five points to three. There were very few spectators, but all

who did turn up were entertained to 60 minutes of good, hard, if not brilliant, rugby. The game was very fast and both sides endeavoured to open it up as much as possible and whilst the game was exciting and thrill-packed, it just failed as a spectacle, 'owing to over keenness on both sides, causing bad passing and handling.

For Hongkong, the forwards had the most of the ball in the set scrum, but~ Singapore's loose forwards certainly proved too quick for Goldschmidt, whose pass- ing left a lot to be desired. Lattay at Standoff played a very sound game, but was inclined to lay just too far away and the Hongkong centres to run across instead of straight.
