■HRISTMAS presents us with a wonderful excuse to indulge in an orgy of eating and drinking. Steam- ing bowls of punch, a profusion of sweetmeats, ico- cold cocktails, and blazing plum-puddings fill our thoughts. Whether we celebrate in style, or quietly at home with the family, new recipes are tried out, new drinks concocted, and a gluttonous time is bad by all,
