Communist Charges Were Absurd Says
Vice-Consul
L
Chinese Communist charges against him were absurd, declared Mr Leve Steventon, Vice-Consul in charge of the British Consulate-General in Mukden, Manchuria, when he arrived in Hongkong yesterday.
Mr Steventon was ordered by the Communists to be deported from China after he was accused of preventing Communist government workers from constructing air raid defence works in the British Consulate grounds in Mukden. He was also accused of throwing earth at the workers and ejecting them from the grounds.
