"Cominform plan for Germany is a perversion"
Washington, October 25.
The Secretary of State, Mr. Dean Acheson, today donounced the Cominform proposal for a unified Germany as a "perversion" of the world's hope for peace.
The Secretary scorned as "old and unworkable”'
the whole four point plan advanced on Satur- day at Prague by the Soviet bloc Foreign Ministers.
He called on Russia instead to live up to its 1945 Potsdam the suggestion pledge, with that nothing else is lacking to bring about German disarmu- ment and unity,
"The time has long since passed when the world can be stirred to hope by general phrases of the Soviet Union about disarmament and peace and German unity Mr. Acheson said,
"We who have striven so hard for these things want bellons-

"The Soviel bloc proposal", he ante, "abuses by its perversion of language, the world's hope for peace and understanding, for nn end to fear and threats."

The Secretary, in
turtir- worded 000-word statement which he read at his news conference, rejected the Prague proposal point by point.
"
Why?"
Mr. Acheson asked "why" to the first Comin:orm
proposal; that Russia, Britain, France and the U.S. publish a new declara- tion against rearming Germany and against permitting the con- quered country to be dragged In- to any aggressive plans."
