Israel Government criticised

Tel Aviv, June 25. The newspaper "Heruth" to- day strongly criticised the Israel Government for taking an itseif the responsibility for the assassination, of Count Folke Bernadotic.

"Herith," orgen of the Free- dem Party composed mainly of fermer members of the outlawed Irgun Zval Leumi, underground organisation, sald in effect thail the Israel nate delivered in Stockholm Jus! Monday was the opposite of what the Government had hoped to achieve.

"Heruth" said the Swedish Presa zaw in the "apologetic, self- effacing wording of the nole not a show of goodwill and an at- tempt to establish stablo relativus with the Government of a nation to whom Israel owes so much, but an admittance of gulle.”

The journal tormed the Israel note "a grave diplomatie blun- der."

Most Israel newspapers did not comment on the note, But two briefly expressed the hope that the way would now be cleared for Swedish de jure recognition of Israal-Associated Press.

Western Germany sees the ominous parallel

Berlin, Juna 25.

Many anti-Communist Germans foar that West Germany may become anothor South Korea if the Western powers withdraw their occupation troops.

by Russion-backed Communist-ruled · North Korea threw a new stare into the Germons. The parallels are obvious,

West While Allied-occupied Germany concentrates on peace- ful economic recovery and West- ern democratisation, Russian-de- cuplod East Germany is building a camouflaged army and navy under the gulse of "people's police".

For five years East Germaniy has been subjected to a procosa of Sovietisation Moscow-train- ed Communists nurtured in un- compromising enmity towards the West.

Leading German anti-Commu- nists have cautioned the Western powers against falling to the Soviet siren song that all occupy 1ng iroops should withdraw from Germany.

The Russlans may be preparing to withdraw their troops within the next year. At least they are now assiduously building up the Communist East German govern ment as a "sovereign" power within their satellite ring. If the Russians leave they would leave behind a "people's police" army of more than 40,000' trained in Infantry weapons and armour. This force is openly add- ing a naval arm to opéraló along the German Baltie coast.

Demands from the Western powers that Moscow dissolve this force have brought no satisfac- tion,

That is why as long ago, as October, 1948, West Berlin's anti- Communist politicians expressed alarm about the Korea situation and drew a dangerous parallel for Germany.
