"The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Tood" now at the King's, will detonate yet another todious oxplosion from the self-appointed guardians of English Literature, who believe that Walt Disney is continually vulgarising the classics. .People are odd. Nobody accused him of vulgarisa- -tion when he adapted the classic "Snow White" to a screen idiom which, though tech- nically improved, has remained basically un- changed since Mickey was black and white.

The Grimm Brothers' Snow White.. Washington Irving's co- centric schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, and Kenneth Grahame's Tond, Rat und Mole from "The Wind In The Willows" are all characters in equally unvulgar fairybooks, which Mr. Disney has chosen to illustrate.

Critics who liked Disney's Snow White have no more reasoli to dislike his Ichabod or his Mr. Toad than they have, say, to like Arthur Rackham's illustrations to Wagner's "Ring" and dislike thuse he did for Shakespeare's "A Mid-, summer Night's Dream."

In our opinion, "Tehabod And Me. Toad" (a double-story car- toon) is the best Disney picture since "Snow White", and boasts the most lovable set of chareters since Dumbo Arst lent us his
