Eichelberger deplores Jap treaty discussions
Washington, June 4,
Lieutenant General Robert L. Eichelberger, Amy adviser on Japan and the Pacific, took o ̧sharp slap today at discussions aimed at a treaty with Japan or a possible pact with Russia providing for the neutrality of Japan. The former Eighth Army Commander deplored peace treaty discussions as premature and suggested it would have been better to have carried out the aims of the mutual assistance pact in Europe before risking possible loss of 'security which the U.S. now possesses in Japan
by international agreement.
