After the first day's sittings of the Commonwealth Consultative Council, set up following January's Colombo conference, this communique was is- sued. "A discussion was commenced on proposals of the respective Governments for implementation of recommendations of the Colom- bo conference.
"Suggestions were made for raising the living standards of the peoples of
the area. The discussion will continue tomorrow.”
