Water consumption of HK shipping sharply reduced

Water consumption of Hong Kong shipping has boon reduced to as much as one-third of the normal supply of 600,000 gallons a day-a direct result of the response, by local ship- ping firms to a “Savo Water" appeal by the Marine Department.
Ships have been advised by their respective prin- cipals in the Colony to fill up at the last port before calling here. Most American-flagged ocean-going vessels are making Manila their water base. Many ships limit their supply to the nearest port of call from here.
