LONDON LOOKS FOR PEACE OFFENSIVE FROM RUSSIANS
London, March. 12.
Observers here today are looking carofully for any sign of a peace offenzivá by Soviet leaders in their campaign speeches during the past week for the elections to the Suprame Soviet, in which Russia's millions voted today.
It appears that the main emphasis in the foreign policy section of the elec
tion speeches has been on peaceful compétition between the capitalist and socialist worlds, coupled with denunciations of capitalism and as- surances that the Soviet system must triumph.
Leading members of the Soviet Government have campaigned on the linos that the Soviet Union stands for peace while the West plans aggres sion and threatens o hydrogen bomb wor.
Politburo members-M. Mo- lotov, Blurshat Voroshilov, M. Malenkov and M. Berla omong them--have empitasised the theme that capitalism und socialism enn live side by side in the previous general elec- tions of 1937 and 1946.
