A minor war in export of rubber shoes to the British market is in existence between Malayan and Hong Kong rubbor manufacturais. Malayan manufacturers have marshalled forces and made adjustments to existing lines fol. lowing criticisms by one of Britain's leading department stores that Malayan-made rub- ber footwear was not good enough for the British market.

The store has been purchas- ing large quantities of Hong Kong made rubber shoes Đội British consumption.

Statistite show, fiat-last-year Hong Kong exported to Britain £62,000 worth of shots per month Malaya averaged only £2,000 þar month.

But for the greater part of last colonial Imports were on a year quota.basis. Hong Kong obtained quota for rubber shoes. Malaya apparently did not.

a

With the recent Uftlig of res trictions, Malaya is now out to get some of Hong Kong's kualdeas.
