CIE DES MESSAGERIES
Belgrado, February 15.
The extent of the damage which the Cominform blockade has caused ito Yugoslav nationalised economy was revealed for the first time by Boris Kidrich, member of the Yugoslav Polit- büroo and Chairman of the Yugoslav Govern- ment's Planning Commission,
The blockade, he said, had cost Yugoslavio 49 per cent of her imports including the greater port of her supplies of crude oil and petrol, all her coke, two-thirds of her raw cotton, three-quarters of her rolled materials and the greater part of her industrial raw materials and chemicals.
-Of 20 (milliard dinars worth of heavy equipment and ma- chinery due to be supplied by Bussin and other Cominform countries, only 815 million dinars worth had been deliver- ed before cennomle relations were cut off.
Yet the blockade had neither forced Yugoslavia to her knees. nor made her become economical ly dependent upon the "Imperia lists, Kidrich added. On the con trary, Yugoslavia had shown her- self strong enough politically not only to withstand this pressure Lul also to push ahead with Mar- shul Tito's five-year industrialisa- tion plan and complete last year's part of it, without outside help, by 160.4 per cent.
Today" Kldrich added, "I can say that in federal and republleau industries, despite the economie blockade we have nehieved 82 per cent of the five-year plan, Fede- rat and repubilean industry with- cut forestry and the timber Indus- try has fulfilled its yearly plan by 101,2 per cent."
Some changes The plan provides, among other things,
increasing for Yugoslav steel production from 2235,000 on a year in 1939 to 780,000 tone in 1951, coal from about 6,000,000 tona to 16,500,- 000
tons
a year and electric energy from 1,100 million kilo- wait hours to 4350 million kilo- watt hours.
Kldrich admitted, however, that
certain modifications to the plan had had to be made to ensure 115 fullment under the new and conditions. Sume more deult maladjustments had also occurr-
d,
The country had been deprived by the Cominform of about 1.3 millard dinars' worth of machi- | nery due to be delivered this
