REDS CAPTURE CAT PILOT AT MENGTZE
|Major-General Clairo Chennault, head of Civil Air Transport Inc., said yesterday that he has appealed to the U.S. State Department to try and obtain the release of Mr. Robert Buoll, CAT operations chief, who was captured by the Communists in South China a fow days

Mr. Buoll is the second CAT pilot to become a
prisoner of the Commúnists.
General Chennault made the request to the U.S. Consul General in Hong Kòng, Mr. Korl Rankin, for relay to Washington.
He said that Mr. Buoll, to- gether with four other CAT employees, set up a radio sta tion at Mengtze, 140 miles South of Kunming, on January 10 to enable the airline to re- sume its ferrying of tin con- centrate from Kunming to Haiphong. At that time the area was believed to be safe.
Mr. Buoll, 29, was accompanied by a mechanic, Jozo Jabert, and Lincoln Gun and two Chineze radio operators. Jabert is R Puerto Rican.
