POPE'S APPEAL FOR A CHRISTIAN UNION "To oppose advance of militant atheism"
MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
Vatican City, December 23.
Pope Pius XII pleaded today for union within the Roman Catholic Church of all Christians to oppose the advance of militant atheism.
The Pope's address, his annual Christmas message, was directed to the
whole world.
He spoke on the eve of the 1950 Holy Year which, he said, "must be de-
cisive, especially for the longed-for renewal of the modern world."
