ANOTHER WAR A CERTAINTY
:
London, October 13.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Clement Attlee, is ex
pected to follow up today's announcement that there will be no autumn election by an apeal to the British public to get on with the job of economic recovery.
Authoritative quarters tonight said that the Gov- ernment opposes an autumn election because it considers it wrong in the public interest to dissolve: Parliament at this particular point in the economic situation.
The Cabinet believes that its job is to carry out its declared policy, with whatever modifications may be called for by the economic situatian, eccording to plan, and that one certain effect of an election now would be to retard the covery-programme by a month.
