Surprise In Match-Play Golf Tournament

London, September 21, Fresh from their Ryder Cup triumph, the American golfers were in force to challenge for the "News of the World" professional match-play championship on the Walton Heath Course, Surrey, today. After yesterday's few preliminary games in the first round, the real busi- ness began today when the 32 second round games were played. Yesterday's first round of eight games passed without undue sensa tion and the only American then engaged, Johnny Pölmer, survived to bring all the American Ryder Cup team men into the second round with the cream of the British players and cne lone continental pro- fessional, Flory Van Donck.
