U.S. HOUSE COMMITTEE GRANTS MILITARY AID Limitations Placed On First Year Cash Spending "SUPREMACY OF TREATY"

Washington, August 15.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee today granted the full US$1,160,990,- 000 asked by the administration for military aid to Western Europe, but limited first year cash spending to only about half the total.

The Committee chairman, Representative John Kee, told reporters that the only restriction the Committee wrote into the measure as it applied to Western Europe was to require the President to certify to Congress that o unified Allied command had been established under the provisions of the North Atlantic Pact.
