IN PARTY CAMPAIGNS Speeches By Labour And Conservative Leaders

ELECTION IN AUTUMN ?

London, July 23.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Clement Attlee, and the Opposition leader, Mr. Winston Churchill, today fired opening broadsides in Party campaigns for a general election which, Mr. Churchill hinted, may not be far off.

The Conservative leade and wartime Premier, declaring that Britain might be on the eve of one of her most vital general elections, launch- ed the Party's new policy statement with a rail for a full stopper on further nationalisation.

Mr. Attlee, counterblasting the Conservative programme as "one of the most dishonest documents that I have ever read,” said that the past four years of labour rule had been years of great difficulty but great achievement.
