French National Day Observed In Colony

France's national day was observed in Hong Kong yesterday with a cocktail party given by Mr. Jobez, French Consul, at the Gripps, Hong Kong Hotel, which was attended by more than 600 guests, headed by the Governor, Sir Alexander Grantham.

Welcoming the guests, the French Consul said the French had a love for their mother country which was often in- creased when they were away from their home. He himself had been back to France quite recently, and, he could assure his compatriots that their mother country was as beau- tiful, as affable and as ples- sant as ever.
