October In July Is A Good Idea

Columbia's "The Return of October,"

light-hearted romantic comedy starring Glenn Ford and Terry Moore, is the The

week-end attraction nt the Queen's and Alhambra

Theatres.

A gay Technicolor comedy It hs that once-in-a-great-while quality so splendidly represented by the well-remembered "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" and "It Happened Ono Night" Thủ bit- ter-sweet appeal of the .คนน radiates from sequences involving numera laughs: some invling & tear or two, and still others offer- ing tingling thrills.

The screen play sets a fast pace from the beginning. Miss Terry Moore, a fetching miss, is stag- gered when she sees October, a racehorse, who looks amazingly like her Uncle Willie.

The animal affects a crumpled hat, craves petuhla, likes Amos 'n Andy, and has other characteris- ties possessed by her lote uncle. For sentimental reasons she buys the horse at an auction, planning to enter han in the Kentucky Derby.

That's just a hint of the zany doings Glenn Ford, a shy kind of guy unsuspectingly walks into, Glenn, a professor of psychology, also wants October for his experi- nents, but he's no match for the tenacious Terry, who, with little cash, but plenty of brass, ac quired the disputed equine.

This starts an acquaintance | which eventually ripens into love,j especially when Miss (Moore en- dearingly refers to Ford дя I "schnookle." But when the "schnookle" discovers her "haliu- cination" about Uncle Willie, he regards her curiously; to say the least. So do relatives who are dished out of inheriting a fortune because Terry is named heiress. They promptly charge her with insanity. The running of the D by in the ellmax decides Terry's, fate,
