BERLIN RAIL STRIKE:
WEST RECOMMENDS RETURN TO WORK
Berlin, Juno 21.
The threo Western Commandants in Berlin tonight asked the West Barlin railway strikers to re- turn to work on terms offered by the Soviet- controlled Railway Administration.
The recommendations were made after the receipt of a letter from Major-General P. Kvashnin, Soviet transport chief, guaranteeing the terms offered by the Railway Administration.
EGYPT'S ACTION IN SUEZ
London, June 21. Britain is not satisfied with the orders given by the Egyptian Government to the shipping nu- thorities at Port Said to ease the restrictions on foreign merchant

After his interview last week- end with Egyption Premier, Ab- dul Kadi Pasha, the Egyptian Government gave instructions
that the

the destination of cargoes should be accepted.
The British view is that all at- tempts by Egypt to Interfere with

In his letter, dated June 20, General Kvashnin stated that he had no doubt that tie Railway Administration would fulfil the the terms of its agreement, guarantee a per cent West Mark pay to the West Berlin rallwaymen,

Today, the British Commander,
G. K. Major-General

"The strike has now lasted for over four weeks, and in their own interests, and in the inter- ests of Berlin
a whole, the railway workers should accept the terms
their full and play part in restoring the economy of the city," General Bourne added.
On June 14, the striking_rafi- waymen rejected by over 15 per cent the terms which the West- today again crn Commandants urged them to accept.
"Bost Method"
It was announced tonight that the three Western Commandarts wrote to General Kvachnin on June 10, asking him to put straight the misrepresentations in the German press which suggest- ed on the day of the strike ballot that the railwaymen could not passing! rely on the Soviet assurances have that there would be no victimisa-
