CHIANG'S CLARION CALL Accuses Reds Of Being Tools Of World Plot FEARS WORLD WAR III
Shanghai, April 27.
Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek predicted today that China may become the tinderbox of a terrifying third world war if the Communists are not defeated.
Breaking a four-month silence since his retirement from the Presidency on January 21, Chiang called for support of the Government of Acting President Li Tsung-jen. Chiong spoke as Director-General of the Kuomintang (Government) Party.
As Chiang's statement was released by the Central News Agency, the Communists were reported to have taken Soochow (Wuhsion), 50 miles West of Shanghai.
Chiang's statement bore a Chikow dateline but both Chinese and foreign
newspapers insisted the Generalissimo was in Shanghai.
Chiang said the Communists were sooking to "enslave the Chinese people to the cause of international Communism by attempting to make all China the military base and source of manpower for the benefit of the Communist plan for world domination,”
